Bora Bora is a beautiful island in the South Pacific Ocean. It's known for it's a tropical island where you're able to relax and have a vacation. It is a really well known place founded in 1769 by Captain James Cook, although there were native people already living there. To the native people, Bora Bora's original name is “Pora Pora”, but it was miscommunicated when Cook heard the name in the translation.
Something you may want to know about Bora Bora is that they speak French over there also English, because it was once part of the French Empire. Their economy is based on tourism, and can be really expensive. The island gets thousands of tourists every year. On the Island they have a mountain name Otemanu, surrounded by a large turquoise lagoon, and white sand with clear clean water. A fun fact is that Bora Bora can also be called “The Pearl of the South pacific.”
