The Great Wall of China is a long site starting in Beijing, China’. It was made 2000 years ago, but additions were added over hundreds of years. It was made completely by men and it’s about 3000 miles long! It is known for being one of the longest places on Earth and can be seen from space! That’s one of the reasons why over 10 million people visit it every year. The reason I think this is one of the coolest and best places to visit is because of how massive it is! It has been said that people died making that wall and that dead bodies have been found under the wall, buried. It is believed that the people building the wall probably died of age or exhaustion making that wall!
The Chinese built the Great wall because they wanted the wall to protect them from invaders and enemies from the north, especially the Mongols, who are a tribal group from Mongolia that raided China in the past. Like all walls it was made for military defense.
Nowadays, people form all over the world go to China to walk along the Great Wall, and to learn about it’s important history, as well as to take in the beautiful views.
