Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, along with one other man Micheal Collins,were the first to walk on the
moon. Apollo 11 was the name of the spacecraft that landed Americans on the moon in 1969. They left
Earth on July 16th and safely returned eight days later on the 24th. The Apollo 11 crew successfully
landed on the moon on July 20th. Prior to their departure, the crew had to undergo roughly six months
of training. Upon their return, the Apollo 11 crew spent 21 days in quarantine. The purpose of this three
week quarantine was to prevent the risk of spreading any contagins from the moon. Although this was
highly unlikely, the crew took this measure as a precaution. Along with the three men, any lunar samples
that were collected were also kept in quarantine. The main reason for the Apollo 11 mission was to send
men to the moon and have them safely return home. According to history.com, there were a few
complications with the mission. For example, about nine minutes before landing, Armstrong realized t
hat they were going to overshoot their landing site. He had estimated that they’d miss by about three
miles. This was a very close educated guess on his part, they actually missed by four miles. The landing
site that was chosen was relatively smooth, as the moon is cluttered with boulders and has craters all
over the surface. Because of this, the crew had to find another spot to land safely. Neil Armstrong,
